Our practice on Boekhorststraat is an official blood collection location in collaboration with HMC. Everyone is welcome: whether you are pregnant or not, partner, man, woman, child or elderly person - and you can also come here with a referral from your GP or the hospital.
You simply walk in, without an appointment, at a central and easily accessible location in the middle of the city.
Blood tests give a doctor or midwife a reliable picture of your health. It is used for many reasons: checking blood values such as iron, blood group and thyroid, detecting or monitoring conditions, checking medication, or standard examination during pregnancy. Your midwife, general practitioner or medical specialist will determine which examination is necessary and will provide you with an application or referral form.
During the blood collection, our employee places a thin needle in a vein, usually in the elbow crease. A small amount of blood is taken into one or more tubes. The laboratory then examines your blood and sends the results to the healthcare provider who requested the test.
The blood collection itself only takes a few minutes. Allow approximately 15 minutes in total for running-in, collection and processing. Because you can go without an appointment, the waiting time is usually short.
