Quitting smoking during pregnancy or while trying to conceive is one of the best things you can do for your baby. We support you in this — without judgement, with practical help.
Smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of complications: lower birth weight, preterm birth, and breathing problems for the baby. The good news: every cigarette less helps, and quitting completely — even later in pregnancy — makes a real difference.
If your partner smokes, it’s harder for you to quit — and second-hand smoke around your baby is also a risk. We’re happy to talk with both of you.
Stop-smoking coaching during pregnancy is covered by Dutch basic insurance once per year, with no excess.
Mention it at your registration or first appointment — we’ll help you take the first step.
