Help with quitting smoking

Quitting smoking during pregnancy or while trying to conceive is one of the best things you can do for your baby. We support you in this — without judgement, with practical help.

Why does it matter?

Smoking during pregnancy increases the risk of complications: lower birth weight, preterm birth, and breathing problems for the baby. The good news: every cigarette less helps, and quitting completely — even later in pregnancy — makes a real difference.

How we support you

  • An honest conversation — no judgement, just understanding of how hard quitting can be
  • Practical tools — nicotine replacement options, tips for managing cravings, how to involve your partner
  • Referral to a specialised coach — if extra support helps, we connect you with stop-smoking professionals
  • Check-ins — we follow up at your regular appointments to see how you’re doing

For your partner too

If your partner smokes, it’s harder for you to quit — and second-hand smoke around your baby is also a risk. We’re happy to talk with both of you.

Insurance

Stop-smoking coaching during pregnancy is covered by Dutch basic insurance once per year, with no excess.
