Pregnancy courses

Good preparation helps. A pregnancy course gives you tools for childbirth: breathing, relaxation, postures and partner involvement. We refer to trusted teachers in The Hague.

Why a pregnancy course?

Childbirth is a physically and mentally intense moment. With the right preparation you will be stronger. A good course teaches you:

  • How to use your breathing during contractions;
  • Which positions are comfortable in each phase;
  • How your partner or buddy can support you;
  • What to expect from expulsion and first contact with your baby;
  • How to draw up and discuss your birth plan.

Our collaboration

Femme works with several teachers in The Hague: Studio Vansi for pregnancy yoga, Bevallen met Love for birthing course and Loïs Witmond from Childbirth with OERKACHT for hypnobirthing.

Different shapes

There are different types of courses to choose from:

  • Individual course. Customized, in a number of sessions.
  • Group course. Affordable and fun, often with a partner.
  • Course for partners. Specifically focused on how you can support your partner.
  • Online course. At your own pace, often with videos and exercises.

When to start?

Women usually start a course around 28–32 weeks. Earlier is also allowed, especially if you do something physical such as yoga or pregnancy fitness. For the birth preparation itself, around the third trimester is ideal.

Will it be reimbursed?

Courses are usually not reimbursed by basic insurance, but are covered by many supplementary insurance policies. Check your policy or ask us.

Rates and reimbursement vary per teacher. Many health insurers reimburse antenatal courses in whole or in part through the supplementary package. Feel free to ask us and we will think along with you.
